GetJar announces strategic alliance with Indian operator Reliance
Depending on which you think is best, free mobile app store GetJar is either the 'world's second largest app store' or 'the world's largest independent app store'. Take your pick.

And how it's getting even bigger, thanks to a strategic alliance with Indian operator Reliance Communications.

The result is its 105 million subscribers will get access to over 65,000 apps via the Indian company's VAS platform R-World, which will enable it for what's being called 'large bandwidth of mobile handsets... not restricted to a few high-end smartphones'.

Reliance Communications will also offer the GetJar apps store across its GSM and CDMA networks. GetJar is already the fourth most visited mobile site in India.

"We wanted to partner with the largest, most experienced, open application catalog provider to address virtually any device being used by our customers," said Anil Pande, Head – VAS, Reliance Communications.

"Our partnership with GetJar means that all Reliance Communications customers will instantly have access to thousands of applications ranging from games, shopping and lifestyle applications to sports, entertainment and productivity applications."
