Personally I wasn't sure about the official entry of Tony Montana onto the App Store, in the shape of the Tricky Software developed and the Starwave published Scarface Last Stand.
It was a neat idea - replaying the final climatic movie scene over and over through 30 progressively harder and expansive levels - but the implementation could have been a lot better.
Still, it was fun, and certainly something worth downloading should it become free.
Which happened over the weekend as its $6.99 price tag was cut as part of a promotion on the FreeAppADay website.
Only way is down
Of course, we've written about plenty of games which have been boosted in this way during 2010, but the majority of these tended to be simpler 99c games that were longer in the tooth.
Scarface Last Stand was only released in mid-April, and doesn't contain any in-app purchases, which are one of the ways developers can monetise such free promotions.
But according to Joe Bayen, who set up FAAD, this only the start, with a dedicated promotion FAAD app about to go live and more high profile games to get the free treatment during June.
