Multiplayer specialist Social Gaming Network (SGN) has picked up $2 million in an initial portion of a wider round of funding.
The cash injection was led by Google CEO Eric Schmidt's investment outfit Tomorrow Ventures, as well as Lars Hinrichs, founder of social software platform Xing.
Mobile-wise, SGN currently focuses on the likes of iPhone and iPad titles such as Skies of Glory and F.A.S.T. being notable entries in its back catalogue - with the publisher also releasing titles on social networks such as Facebook and MySpace.
However, TechCrunch claims the funding could well be used to launch an attack on other smartphone devices, with founder Shervin Pishevar telling the site SGN already has designs on Android.
SGN previously raised $15 million in a round of funding back in May 2008, with this week's boost following a $33 million investment in Playdom and a $147 million investment in FarmVille studio Zynga.
