There are plenty of tools and middleware available for making mobile games, especially when it comes to the likes of iPhone and Android.
And now you're getting another option to test out alongside Unity and the rest, in the shape of DX Studio.
The next release - v4.0 due in the summer - will be the first to include support for Android. It will also have a lightweight cross-platform Java and OpenGL player.
Other key features include instant edit and preview, editor-based performance monitoring, additional water and terrain tools, and a significant performance upgrade to the rendering engine.
Engine revved
"We are very excited about offering cross platform support to our existing users. The ability to publish DX Studio built games on a wider range of devices has been an increasingly popular request." said CEO and founder Chris Sterling.
"We hope the move will attract a significant number of new users to our engine, offering a cost effective way to build apps and games for the latest mobile phones."
DX Studio costs £250 for the standard edition (including a year of support), £500 for the pro edition and £50 and £100 respectively for the equivalent non commercial versions.
More details can be found at the DX Studio website.
