The joint venture MeeGo mobile computing OS created by Nokia and Intel is expected to deliver its first device for the North American market at the end of 2010. But it seems the two companies aren't just looking at software.
According to an interview with Reuters, Heikko Huomo, head of companies' new user interface research center in Finland, has stated 3D screens are also on the cards.
"As I look at the success of 3D movies, I believe there will be strong development of 3D displays as well," Huomo explained, when asked what topics will be investigated.

Yet, it seems highly unlikely the companies will match the release of the first 3D portable device, Nintendo's 3DS, due in Japan in late 2010.
MeeGo 3D devices - either laptops or smartphones - won't be expected until mid-2011 at the earliest.
"We are adopting a policy of releasing early and releasing often," Nokia's CTO Rich Green told Reuters concerning MeeGo's overall development schedule.
"A huge amount of functionality has been generated, but there is ... a significant amount of work is still to do."
