With iPhone gamers awaiting the arrival of Apple's Game Center, most social mobile infrastructure companies are looking towards the fast growing Android market.
Indeed, Scoreloop was the first to support Android games within its SDK and now it's going one step further releasing a standalone Android app alongside its existing iPhone app.
Build a community
Designed to drive social discovery and cross promotions, the free download enables you to manage your friends and social network connections across Android and iPhone. In addition, you can see what games people are playing, thanks to a Facebook-like friends feed.
"Social discovery is a key driver for game sales and the missing link on Android," says Marc Gumpinger, Scoreloop's CEO.
"We're making sure anyone with a smartphone can connect to their friends through games. With so many to choose from, when you're looking for a game, the ones that your friends are playing are your best bet. Now it's all possible with the Scoreloop app, and it's fun and free."
Good for developers too
As part of the app release, Scoreloop is releasing a new version of its SDK so developers can integrate social discovery and cross promotional features into their apps.
Launch partners include Android developers such as Boolba Labs, Goodteam Lab, and HyperBees.
"This has been something we've looked forward to since first integrating Scoreloop," says Kiryl Kavalenka, co-founder of Boolba Labs, which developed Toss It and Smiley Pops.
"With our games more heavily cross-promoted within this huge community of Android users, we expect to see a substantial spike in downloads."
