The full details won't be announced until Game Center goes live, but OpenFeint, the largest iOS social gaming network - this week at least - has confirmed its future plans.
"We're going to provide developers with comprehensive tools to migrate their data if they want to switch," said Jason Citron, Aurora Feint's CEO.
Stay or go
Of course, with OpenFeint now a cross platform technology - also supporting Android - he hopes developers will continue to run OpenFeint, which will enable them to use Game Center as a social subset of the larger mobile gaming community.
"We are also providing deep compatibility support for developers who are interested in what OpenFeint continues to offer," Citron comments.
"We're still seeing an incredible amount of interest in our community, marketing and advanced gaming features. Especially cross platform support for our entire featureset and the upcoming PlayTime multiplayer."
This latter point is particularly significant as the realtime multiplayer technology will go beyond what Apple offers - initially at least - in Game Center, with server-based gameplay for up to 16 players, and seamless AI replacement if players lose connections.
OpenFeint will release further details about its migration and compatibility tools following the release of iOS 4.1 and Game Center next week.
