Given the overwhelming success of its iOS line up over the last few years, it's not exactly surprising that Apple is so willing to crow about various sales and download stats at each and every press event.
As such, aside from taking aim at Apple's rivals earlier this week, Steve Jobs also used the firm's Mac presentation to reveal that total App Store downloads have now hit 7 billion.
That's up from September's figure of 6.5 billion, meaning the App Store is currently enjoying a download rate of 10 million a day.
App Store expansion
It's no shock, then, that Apple also unveiled plans to take the App Store to Mac.
The unsurprisingly named Mac App Store, which is set to launch within the next 90 days, won't be bolted onto the existing iTunes set up, but instead will exist as its own program, serving up apps covering games, education and music, amongst others.
"The Mac App Store is just like the App Store for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad," Apple says on its website.
"The Mac App Store revolutionises the way applications are installed on a computer - it happens in one step. You can browse Mac apps by category...or do a quick search for something specific. You can install Mac apps on every Mac you use and even download them again."
Also announced at the event was a version of FaceTime for Mac, linking up desktop customers with those that own either an iPhone or latest generation iPod touch.
The firm has already put a beta live on its webpage, with the download requiring Mac OS X v10.6.4 Snow Leopard or later to run.
