Further to its announcement of one million downloads of its free games on Nokia's Ovi store, German publisher HandyGames has provided more details about its strategy on the platform.
With a target of five million downloads before the end of 2010, it has plans to release plenty more games to boost its download figures.
"We will launch more than 20 titles on Ovi, and that's just the ones planned for the near future," says CEO Christopher Kassulke.
Giving it away
As with its current crop, these will be free, full versions of games, supported by adverts. Paid, ad-free versions will be available for gamers happy to pay for the experience.
Kassulke is also keen to point out that releasing full, ad supported games is a very different option compared to the vogue for freemium games - something it has already experimented with.
"It's free not freemium. We don't just copy others," he explains.
Obviously, free games ensure the widest distribution.
"We want to drive the industry forward and give the consumer the choice," says Kassulke, adding, "This is proof that Java isn't a dead platform."
