Adult Android app store MiKandi rolls out virtual currency
Launched a year ago, MiKandi, the Android app store for adult content, has announced it's now supporting its own virtual currency system.

Called MiKandi Gold, it's designed to get around the problems developers have monetising Android content. It can be purchased in various amounts from $5 for 450 Gold up to 2100 Gold for $20, via credit card.

"Since our initial launch a year ago, the number one question from developers has been: 'When can I charge for my apps?' explains Tim Adams, MiKandi's head of developer relations.

"Today we reward their patience with a solution that we're proud of and a future payment roadmap that includes in-app purchases, subscription billing and rewards programs."

Gentleman's relish

MiKandi has also released a new Android client, including faster performance, more intuitive navigation, better search capabilities and support for video.

Downloaded over 300,000 times, the 18+ app store supports content from 600 developers and has hosted over one million app downloads.

It's not available via Android Market however, only via download from MiKandi's mobile website. For that reason, users have to set up their phone to accept non-Market downloads in their phone's settings.

Developers can find out more about publishing on MiKandi from its developer website.
