Calculated by tracking people accessing the Android Market over the past two weeks, Google has broken down some figures in terms of the usage share of the various flavours of its mobile OS.
Old school Android 1.5 was on 6.3 percent of devices, Android 1.6 was on 10.6 percent, Android 2.1 on 39.6 percent and Android 2.2 on 43.3 percent.
Most Android users can't actively update their devices, as unless you're jailbroken your phone, operators control what firmware gets pushed out.
More interesting perhaps, is the following graphic showing how the usage breakdown has changed over the past six months of 2010.
