The Game Creators announce App Game Kit for iOS, Symbian, bada and Intel Atom development
Cross platform development should already be a key issue for most mobile developers, and there are only going to be more platforms to cover in 2011.

And, in turn, that means there will be more middleware released; the latest to be announced is the App Game Kit.

Hello World!

Developed by The Game Creators, a UK outfit already well known for its popular DarkBASIC PC game development tools, the App Game Kit takes a high level approach to the problem.

Using its proprietary AGK script, it enables developers to create games using simple commands such as LoadImage, Sprite, and PlaySound, via the industry standard Eclipse integrated development environment, then compiling their game to each target platform.

Covering bases

Due to launch in early 2011, AGK will support iOS, Samsung bada, Windows and Symbian^3, allowing you to deploy games instantly to the Apple App Store, Samsung Apps, Ovi Store and Intel's AppUp store.

Android, Windows Phone 7, Blackberry, MeeGo and XNA will be added later in the year.

"AGK is a tool we needed at The Game Creators and it's already saving us time and money developing new apps," said CEO Lee Bamber.

"We're sure other developers will find it invaluable and it's also easy for hobbyist and indie developers to get started making games with."
