Whether the download numbers have been boosted by the hack that has enabled some content to be bought for free isn't mentioned, but Apple is happy to report the successful opening of the Mac App Store.
With more than 1, 600 games and application available, over one million downloads have been made in the first 24 hours.
Birds shoot to the top
Analytics outfit Distimo reckoned around 17 percent of the launch content are games, with the vast majority being versions of existing iOS releases.
Old favourites such as Chopper 2, Bejeweled 3, Flight Control HD, Osmos and The Incident are available, and Angry Birds is firmly in the #1 spot.
"We're amazed at the incredible response the Mac App Store is getting," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO.
"Developers have done a great job bringing apps to the store and users are loving how easy and fun the Mac App Store is."
