Japanese game publisher Capcom (TYO:9697) has announced its financials for the nine month period ending December 31.
The company has four operational departments, one of which is labelled Mobile Operations, although it also seems to include social games such as Facebook.
Mobile Operation's net sales were ¥2.383 trillion (around $29 million), while operating income was ¥472 million ($5.7 million).
The company hasn't broken out its mobile sales before so no year-on-year comparison was available.
Capcom said it was diversifying its game business by releasing more mobile games, both in Japan and in overseas markets, and rebuilding its internal development teams.
Smurf's up
For example, it has released its first games on DeNA's Mobage platform, gaining more than one million players for title Monhan Nikki Mobile Airu Mura.
Capcom pointed to iOS games such as Street Fighter IV and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney as achieving their projected sales, and the performance of the iPad version of Resident Evil 4 was highlighted.
It also said social freemium game Smurfs' Village had been a positive surprise, with the number players exceeding projections by far, although the Facebook rather than the iOS version was specifically mentioned.
