Launched back in November, Qualcomm has announced the winners of its Augmented Reality Developer Challenge, with snap-happy app Paparazzi coming out on top.
The title, which charges you with taking pictures of an animated 'celeb' before said star gets annoyed and vents his frustrations out on you, was created by Lithuanian developers Paulius Liekis and Arminas Didiokas.
Cashing in
"Qualcomm congratulates the winners and all the developers that provided submissions," said director of business development at Qualcomm, Jay Wright, having announced the winner at Mobile World Congress.
"With just over three months of development time since the SDK became available, developers have shown that compelling AR experiences can be created rapidly using Qualcomms platform."
By taking home the top accolade, Liekis and Didiokas picked up $125,000, with second prize and $50,000 going to Defiant Development for Inch High Stunt Guy.
Third placed Danger Copter, created by five graduate students at the University of Southern Californias School of Cinematic Arts, scooped $25,000.
Reality run
The awards scheme was a move by Qualcomm to push its augmented reality SDK for Android, which launched in early October.
Instead of using GPS and the phone's compass, the AR platform utilises computer vision to deliver the effect.
