Building on its existing base in cross-platform development tools, Sibblingz has announced it is to launch a fresh multiplatform cloud-based, dubbed Spaceport.
The platform will connect players across platforms and allow developers to write code once in Javascript or HTML5, before serving it up across every major smartphone format in one fell swoop.
Space-portal
Spaceport will launch with Sibblingz's own RPG, MiniQuest, which will be available on iPhone, Android and Nokia devices later in 2011.
The claim is that MiniQuest will be playable across a total of 1 billion handsets a larger userbase than even Facebook can boast.
"Spaceport is a revolutionary advancement in mobile game development," said Sibblingz founder, Ben Savage.
"Most developers have been told they have to wait a year or so for WebGL to build an HTML5 application with the performance of native applications. We offer the same capability to the world now, on every smartphone OS in the world."
Eyes on online
Sibblingz claims games on the portal will run as well as native apps.
Spaceport will also run a server-side solution in the cloud, meaning developers can offer online play without needing to deal with setting up or running their own servers.
"Once again, a YouWeb company is pioneering new ways to build social games," added Sibblingz's chairman, Peter Relan.
"With Sibblingz, developers can now build social games for an addressable market of over a billion users."
More information can be found on the Spaceport website.
