With Nokia pledging its allegiance to Microsoft and the Redmond-based companys Windows Phone flag, Intel has had to shoulder the responsibility for the development of MeeGo.
To provide insight into, and foster support for, the Linux-based operating system, the US chip manufacturer is staging a MeeGoExperts Meetup on June 23 in Birmingham, UK.
Held at Bar Risa, Quay Side Tower in England's second city from 6.30pm, the event will serve as an introduction to augmented reality on the platform, and reveal more about the integration of Intel's AppUp channel into MeeGo.
Everything but the kitchen sink
MeeGo itself is intended to run on a variety of hardware platforms including tablets, smartphones, in-car devices, netbooks, and smart TVs.
The support for the OS naturally reflects the breadth of its projected reach, as automobile firms BMW, Jaguar Land Rover, and Peugeot line up behind the MeeGo project alongside traditional PC vendors Acer and Asus.
