Taiwanese phone manufacturer HTC (TPE:2498) has announced its unaudited financials for Q3 2011, the three months ending 30 September.
Total revenue for the period was 135.8 billion TWD ($4.4 billion), up 79 percent year-on-year.
Net profit was also on the up, hitting 18.6 billion TWD (around $608 million) arise of 68 percent base on the same period in 2010.
Margin matters
Handset shipment figures are yet to be made public, though HTC claimed in August it expected to ship a record 13.5 million smartphone handsets in Q3 2011.
That would be up both on Q2's total of 12.2 million units and up 98 percent year-on-year.
However, the firm missed out on meeting its Q3 revenue projection of NWD 137 billion ($4.5 billion), owing to what analysts claim are decreasing margins.
"Margins right now are a bit disappointing, suggesting HTC is increasing its expenses on new models," Yuanta Securities analyst Bonnie Chang told the Wall Street Journal.
Its share price has also been hit by concerns about its patent litigation with Apple.
