As rumoured, Motorola's joint press event with US carrier Verizon bore considerable fruit: the unveiling of the firm's latest Android-powered handset, Droid Razr.
Chatter surrounding the "world's thinnest 4G smartphone" - as billed - had been building ever since Motorola issued an ambiguous invitation to an event hosted by the two parties in San Diego back on October 10.
Thinner than your average phone
At 7.1mm thin, the device packs an 8 megapixel camera with 4.3-inch super AMOLED advanced QHD display.
It's powered by a 1 GHz processor with 1 GB of RAM and runs Android 2.3, better known as Gingerbread.
"Droid Razr by Motorola combines style, performance and the power of Verizon Wireless's 4G LTE network into one innovative device," said Marni Walden, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless.
"These are two iconic brands that separately symbolize the best technology available today. The combination will provide an unsurpassed wireless experience for customers."
The Droid Razr will be available on a two year Verizon contract from early November, priced at $299. No word was given on a European release.
Speculation leading up to the event had also pointed towards the unveiling of a successor to the firm's Xoom tablet itself currently suffering from sluggish sales though the company remained silent on this score.
