Those writing Flash's obituaries could well find they've jumped the gun somewhat: in the face of news Adobe is to halt developer for Flash Player for mobile browsers, Sony has revealed it's negotiating to add support on PS Vita.
In an interview with Japanese site Impress Watch, Sony senior VP Yoshio Matsumoto, Division 2 software development head Muneki Shimada, and product division chief Hiromi Wakai detailed the ongoing talks with Adobe to add Flash to the handheld's roster.
Vita la vida
Seemingly, an agreement has been difficult to reach, but all three parties claimed they had "not given up", with Sony determined to pitch PS Vita on an equal footing with smartphone platforms.
In the same interview, Shimada highlighted that the PS Vita will support 720p, not 1080p, at launch.
It is possible that future updates could introduce 1080p functionality, but the handheld's vertical resolution of 544 pixels means any content above that would need to be scaled. As a result, 720p is seen as the logical option.
Shimada also addressed the issue of custom memory cards.
Though controversial in some quarters, he claimed Sony decided against supporting the likes of SD Cards because they wanted to provide something with an 'equal condition' for all players.
