The lid is yet to be lifted on the much-rumoured app enabled Apple TV, but the competition is already lining up, readying their alternatives for the platform's inevitable launch.
One such opponent is set to be Myriad, which has announced it is to partner with AppCarousel in order to deliver Android apps to internet-enabled TVs.
Dubbed Myriad Alien Vue, the venture utilises Myriad's Alien Dalvik technology to allow Android apps to run alongside the television's existing functions.
AppCarousel's job will be to provide app merchandising, delivery and billing solutions to complete the picture.
Nice Vue
"Alien Vue enables TV service providers and device manufacturers to offer a richer experience to their customers including consumption of Android apps and content," said AppCarousel MD Terry Hughes.
"We are delighted to be partnering with Myriad to make app browsing and downloading a key part of that experience."
AppCarousel's white label platform will be designed to fit in seamlessly with Myriad Alien Vue, providing an app store set up that can be branded for individual service providers.
"AppCarousel provides not only the ability to showcase relevant apps and content to targeted audiences across multiple devices, but it also seamlessly integrates with Myriad Alien Vue to deliver Android apps directly to users on their TVs," added Myriad Group CEO Simon Wilkinson.
Alien Vue will make its AppCarousel equipped splash at CES 2012.
