Japanese mobile social gaming company DeNA (TYO:2432), has announced its financial figures for its FY11 Q3, the three months ending December 31.
Net sales were ¥34.2 billion (around $445 million), up 16 percent year-on-year.
Operating income was ¥13.5 billion (around $176 million), down 8 percent year-on-year.
Net income was ¥6 billion (around $78 million), down 26 percent year-on-year.
However, all three indices were down compared to the FY11 Q2 quarter, which ended September 30.
An eye on overseas
Broken down into sectors, sales in its core social media segment were up year on year from ¥25.5 billion to ¥30.2 billion but down from Q2's figure of just below ¥31 billion.
The company claims Mobage now boasts a total of 35.92 million subscribers, up from 32 million three months ago, with increasing use of its Moba-coin virtual currency in Japan sparked by third-parties deploying them in an increasing array of titles.
The firm's current target, however, is cementing its base outside of Japan.
"We have been focused expressly on executing our cross-border, cross-device strategy for Mobage," said president and representative director Isao Moriyasu of the results.
"In recent months, we pushed Mobage across new territories and mobile platforms. Our growth in the quarter was led largely by third party games, and we recently regained focus in first party and collaboration games; we are now expecting even further growth in Japan."
