AnandTech has published its performance review of Qualcomm's next big thing: the MSM8960 system-on-a-chip (SoC), better known as Krait.
The new addition to the firm's Snagdragon family of chipsets has been fully benchmarked by the site, with AnandTech's test suggesting Krait will deliver more than twice the performance of some of the industry's most popular smartphones.
Galaxies ahead
Indeed, when it comes to the multi-threaded Linpack benchmark a test designed to equate the efficiency of the chip's architecture the site claims the 1.5GHz dual-core Krait offers "insane" performance.
When compared to the architecture of devices already on the market, such as Samsung's Galaxy S II (which uses ARM's Mali 400 GPU), Krait delivers a significant performance leap.
"The MSM8960 is able to deliver more than twice the performance of any currently shipping SoC," concludes AnandTech.
"The gains are likely due in no smart part to improvements in Krait's cache/memory controller."
The full results can be found over on AnandTech.
