Flaregames raises 2 million euros from Deutsche Telekom's venture arm

German start up flaregames has raised €2 million euros from T-Venture, the venture capital arm of Deutsche Telekom.

This follows on from the €6 million euros it raised from Accel Partners in February.

The two companies have also signed what they call a broad marketing co-operation agreement.

Good to go

Founded by Klaas Kersting, one of the co-founders of German online gaming publisher Gameforge, flaregames' goal is to make free-to-play mobile games, particularly those that combine the real and virtual worlds.

"We had just closed a round of financing and are comfortably financed, but were open to T-Venture's approach, as we consider it a unique strategic opportunity," said Kersting.

"T-Venture's position as a catalyst between ourselves and Deutsche Telekom opens up numerous opportunities for successful collaboration and access to the customer base of the leading European carrier."

"Flaregames impressed us with a clear vision for growth, a great product pipeline and, above all, a great and highly motivated team," said Dr. Christian Illek, Telekom Deutschland's director of marketing.

Flaregames expects to launch its debut games in April, with eight titles planned for 2012.
