BlackBerry World is the first time developers can get their hands on the a pre-release build of the new BlackBerry 10 operating system.
However, given that RIM calls its PlayBook Tablet 2.0 OS, the 'gateway to BlackBerry 10', there shouldn't be too many surprises.
Indeed, even prior to BlackBerry 10 Jam event that runs within the main conference - and to which all attendees get the BB 10 Dev Alpha hardware - plenty of key partners have been getting up to speed to ensure launch software, including game developers.
And RIM has just released a beta version of its developer toolkit for the BlackBerry 10 platform, which includes a native SDK and support for HTML 5 via the BlackBerry 10 WebWorks SDK
Healthy ecosystem
During the main keynote, two companies took to the stage.
Baudouin Corman, Gameloft's VP of sales and marketing, Americas, confirmed the French publisher would be bringing 11 games to the launch of BB 10 - expecting around September.
These include N.O.V.A. 3, Ice Age Village, The Oregon Trail and Shark Dash.
It's also said it will be integrating Scoreloop and BlackBerry Messenger to tap into social features.
Gameloft has always been a big BlackBerry supporter with over 70 games available on App World, including 11 for the PlayBook tablet.
The other company was German developer Fishlabs.
CEO Michael Schade explained that its enthusiasm for BlackBerry only came after it received a free PlayBook tablet, and got its Galaxy on Fire 2 title up-and-running in a day.
Combined with Fishlabs' longstanding issues over Android privacy means that it now views BlackBerry as its second platform, behind iOS.
