Japanese telecommunications giant NTT DoCoMo has tabled a 224 million ($287 million) offer for mobile content provider Buongiorno, the two companies have announced.
The Milan-based firm was founded in 1995 and has grown to provide a combination of games, music and other media related services in 57 countries across four different continents.
Money matters
In all, Buongiorno is said to boast around 2 billion customers across the globe.
Indeed, it's Buongiorno's global presence that appears to be behind the move, with NTT DoCoMo reportedly looking to expand beyond its base in Asia.
For its part, Buongiorno appears keen on a deal. NTT DoCoMo's offer represents 32 times the firm's current operating profit, with the board of directors noting that the proposed price would deliver "considerable reward when compared with the recent stock price performance of the company".
As such, shareholders have decided to "examine the details of the offer and its implications" for all parties involved, with each shareholder set to be offered 2 per share.
