Rumours suggest that, a matter of days after Microsoft lifted the lid off Surface, Google is set to deliver its own Android-based tablet.
A render of the 7-inch Google Nexus already dubbed the Nexus 7 by some has been published by Gizmodo, with the tablet set to be unveiled as the first device to Android 4.1 at Google's I/O conference in San Francisco.
Seventh heaven?
Though Google branded, it's believed the Nexus 7 will actually be manufactured by Asus, wirth the device bearing a striking resemblance to Asus' EeePad MeMO.
The site claims Nexus 7 will be a quad-core Tegra 3 tablet, with a 1.2 MP front-facing camera, a 1280x800 IPS-based LCD display, NFC, and either 8GB or 16GB storage.
Unlike Surface, however, which it's believed will follow a pricing model similar to Apple's iPad, Google is aiming to take on Amazon's Kindle Fire at the low end of the scale.
Gizmodo quotes a predicted price range of between $199-$249, depending on the model.
A launch could be as soon as July, though expect more details at Google's I/O splash, starting 27 June.
