Samsung has launched its Smart App Challenge 2012, inviting developers to create innovative apps for its Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab in order to win a share of $4 million.
A total of 80 winning apps will receive cash prizes and marketing support.
In order to enter an app for the Challenge, developers must simply register their information on the Samsung Smart App Challenge website, and then begin selling their application through Samsung Apps.
The deadline for entries is 30 September.
30 winning games and 30 winning apps will be selected purely on the basis of download numbers, with a grand prize of $200,000 for each overall winner.
20 more winners will be selected by a panel of judges based on how well they make use of the Samsung S Pen.
Fabulous prizes
"At Samsung we want to provide opportunities and support for the development of innovative apps that make use of our hardware technology," said Simon Stanford, Samsung UK and Ireland's VP, telecommunications and networks.
"The Samsung Smart App Challenge 2012 is a real opportunity for both established and budding app developers to secure funding and marketing support."
"It's an exciting project and we're looking forward to seeing what these developers create."
