In what the company claims is a first for iOS, magazine giant H Bauer has launched a new puzzle magazine on the App Store's Newsstand equipped with gameplay.
Mini Arrowwords part of the publisher's Take a Break brand is a publication packed with simple word puzzles that the reader can solve in-app, with a total of 60 'games' on offer per issue.
Going first
Not the most intense of 'gameplay' then, but H Bauer believes Mini Arrowwords represents the publisher making new ground on Apple's platform.
The company believes this is the first time Apple has allowed any such form of interactivity onto the Newsstand for the first time.
"With our developer partners, Dilemma Puzzles, we've also brought the first truly integrated paper and magazine app puzzle title to the market both here in the UK and, to the best of our knowledge, anywhere else," said magazine publisher Spike Figgett.
"The magapp also features a unique 'floating keyboard' solution to entering text into the puzzles.
"This can be positioned to best suit the user and does not obscure the puzzle in the same way as happens in apps that rely on the inbuilt iPad keyboard."
