As Nokia was taking the wrappers off its refreshed Lumia line up in New York, so the company was also detailing its progress to date back home in Helsinki.
The company claims to have sold 7 million Lumia handsets since launch by no means a number to worry its rivals, but one that could calm those intent on predicting the firm's longterm downfall.
Global game
That's namely because sales are both rising 4 million sold during Q2 alone and Lumia's global reach is enviable: the device available in 54 markets across 130 operators.
The downside, however, is that one of Nokia's weakest markets remains the US. 600,000 Lumias have been sold across the country to date, meaning the Finnish firm is little but a bit part player in one of mobile's most lucrative markets.
Nokia will therefore be hoping its new Lumia range led by the Lumia 920 (below) can both capitalise on the foundations already laid in other markets, as well as make major ground against its rivals in the US.
