DeNA and Nexon have announced a "global business alliance" that will see Nexon games distributed through DeNA's Mobage platform both in Japan and abroad.
Nexon is a Korean free-to-play publisher that's been aggressively pursuing smartphone success in recent years; most significantly in October 2012 when the company spent $470 million acquiring leading Japanese mobile studio gloops.
Given the fact that gloops had existing ties with the Mobage platform, it's perhaps unsurprising that Nexon has decided to partner with DeNA in its mobile assault.
"We are excited to build on our existing relationship with gloops and leverage DeNA's deep expertise in developing and publishing international social games," explained DeNA CEO Isao Moriyasu.

Tokyo-based mobile gaming consultant Dr Serkan Toto notes that, at present, gloops' success is limited to Japan. Its games are "heavily geared" towards the domestic market, and "definitely not exportable in my view."
It would seem that Nexon's is nonetheless keen to keen to export this success worldwide. Under the terms of their new alliance, DeNA will assist Nexon with game development and offer extensive marketing support.
After all, during 2012 DeNA saw strong success with Japanese developer Cygames and its Rage of Bahamuth game on Mobage in the US.
"This alliance is a compelling next step in extending Nexon's mobile strategy, which is also consistent with our vision of growing our presence in the expanding global mobile market," explained Nexon's president and CEO Seungwoo Choi.
