Following the launch of its in-app purchasing API and the unveiling of its virtual currency platform, Amazon is continuing to expand the range of monetisation options available to Appstore developers.
The latest development in this effort is the new Amazon mobile ads API, which serves ads to US users and works with apps on Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD, and Android phones and tablets.
It's worth noting that it isn't only Amazon Appstore applications that can make use of Amazon mobile ads.
Apps that are distributed through any Android platform can utilise the API, so long as they're available for download from the Amazon Appstore as well.
Promises
Amazon is promising developers competitive eCPM, as well as easy-to-use tools for revenue-tracking and high quality ads from brands such as Amazon, Duracell Powermat and Nature's Bounty.
The Amazon mobile ads API is a cinch to integrate too, with Amazon claiming it can be done in a matter of minutes.
To find out more about Amazon's latest monetisation option, visit the Amazon Mobile App SDK page, which is also home to the company's in-app purchasing API, an A/B testing service and Amazon's GameCircle API for achievements, leaderboards and save game synchronisation.
