First floated back in July, Zynga has officially withdrawn its application for an interactive gaming license in the US state of Nevada, signaling its intent to pull out of the real money gambling scene.
The company's "request to withdraw applications" has, according to USPoker.com, been granted by the September Nevada Gaming Control Board, with the developer now looking to refocus its efforts back on the social and free-to-play scene.
Pulling out
"Zynga believes its biggest opportunity is to focus on free to play social games," detailed Zynga back in its Q2 2013 earnings report.
"While the company continues to evaluate its real money gaming products in the United Kingdom test, Zynga is making the focused choice not to pursue a license for real money gaming in the United States.
"Zynga will continue to evaluate all of its priorities against the growing market opportunity in free, social gaming, including social casino offerings."
The decision to pull out of real money gambling in the US is seen as one of the first major decisions taken by recently appointed CEO Don Mattrick, who joined the company at the start of July.
Since then, Zynga has shuttered studios, culled staff and seen more executives abandon ship, with revenue dropping by 31 percent during the firm's last quarterly report.
