It looks as if the wait for an app-equipped Apple TV is set to continue.
Weeks after rumours that a revised version of Apple's TV platform could be unveiled at the firm's media event on Tuesday, the source behind said rumour has backtracked.
Calm down
TechCrunch columnist MG Siegler initially teased Apple aficionados with a tweet hinting that fresh Apple TV hardware would likely be shown this tuesday.
However, he has now stated he feels the need to "pour a small amount of water" on his own rumour.
I guess those excited about a software refresh in a week are gonna be *really* excited when new Apple TV hardware is unveiled next month.

"Well, now I feel the need to pour a little just a little, mind you cold water on the rumor fire," explains Siegler on his blog.
"While I still haven't heard anything concrete, the most recent whispers I have heard is that the Apple TV project has been delayed a bit. That doesnt mean we won't see an Apple TV update at the event we could see an updated unit with a spec bump or something.
"But the thing to be more excited about, the device with some sort of newfangled control system, doesn't seem like it's ready just yet."
Apple is facing increasing pressure to make its move in the apps-on-TV market, both following the unveiling of controller support for iOS 7 seen by many as a pre-requisite for an app-equipped Apple TV and the launch of Sony's PS Vita TV.
Sony's device plays both PS Vita and original PlayStation games on the television and features media functionality.
