Agawi's streaming AppGlimpse service transforms ads into playable game previews

The cloud-streaming platform Agawi has announced a new service aimed at transforming the mobile banner ad.

Dubbed AppGlimpse, the service creates brief playable previews of a game which land in a traditional ad slot - in many ways, this can be seen as an extension of video ads aimed at engaging players.

AppGlimpse allows players to try out a game before downloading, with the overall goal of allowing them to "play around and check out the app" without having to head to the App Store and enter their password.

Playful ads

"Current mobile ad solutions just don’t grab attention like the option to actually try an app or game before you spend your money," said Agawi co-founder and CEO Rohan Relan.

"AppGlimpse is all about long-term value ... when you're happy with your purchase you tend to keep engaged, buy more items and spend more time in that app or game."

Agawi plans to roll AppGlimpse out to select iOS and Android partners in Q1 2014, and requires interested parties to upload their game to the AppGlimpse Dashboard.

Agawi will then automatically create a virtualized version to stream from the cloud to an adspace.

Those interested in signing up or learning more can email Agawi directly at appglimpse @ agawi.io
