Big bucks for Bolivia, Bulgaria and more

Google Play opens up merchant accounts for 12 new countries

Google has opened the doors for developers from 12 additional countries to begin selling paid apps on a global scale.

Previously, while customers in the dozen countries could buy paid apps and make in-app purchases with ease, developers from those locales could only submit free apps without IAPs to Google Play.

Now these developers can register for merchant accounts and earn money directly from their apps, rather than having to rely on advertising.

The full list of the 12 countries is as follows: Bahrain, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, Estonia, Honduras, Jamaica, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, and Panama.

Out of the total 152 countries that Google Play currently accepts for developer registration, this latest influx now brings the total of those that support merchant accounts to 74.
