Ex-HoloLens and Oculus staff form eSports VR game developer Drifter Entertainment

Three VR and AR industry veterans have joined together to form a new eSports focused VR studio called Drifter Entertainment.

The Seattle-based studio is made up of Ray Davis, Kenneth Scott and Brian Murphy. They will be working on multiplayer-focused VR titles with a competitive edge. No platforms have been specified as yet.

Davis most recently served as General Manager for Unreal Engine 4. He was previously CTO at Microsoft for its mixed-reality HoloLens project.

Scott joins from Oculus, where he spent two years directing a team of developers in making launch content. He has previously held positions at both id Software and Microsoft as an Art Director.

A new generation

Finally, Murphy was previously a designer and creative director at Microsoft. He too has worked on the HoloLens, as well as developing Microsoft's Kinect.

"Virtual reality represents a rare opportunity to build an entirely new generation of game experiences to completely immerse yourself in," said Murphy.

"We’re combining our expertise in crafting incredibly polished games along with our early expertise with VR to build some truly amazing (and fun!) games for these emerging platforms."

The studio is currently hiring for a number of unspecified roles on its website.
