Crowdfunding platform Fig establishes $500,000 fund to help developers finish their games

Crowdfunding platform Fig has opened up a $500,000 fund to help developers finish their games and cover distribution costs.

The Fig Finishing Fund will be awarded to developers whose Fig campaign reaches 1,000 backers or more. Such developers will be given an additional $20,000 from Fig to help them in the later stages of the development cycle.

The platform suggests developers may want to use these funds to cover the cost of translation and distribution. The fund will also be provided as a means to cover marketing fees.

Everyone's a winner

"This program further aligns us and our community of investors, developers and fans," wrote Fig CEO Justin Bailey on the company's blog.

"Investors benefit because this increases the chance that titles they've invested in come to market successfully and reach their intended audiences. Fans also benefit when their favorite titles get a better shot at being published."

Fig closed a series A funding round worth $7.64 million in January 2017. The platform offers both traditional crowd-sourcing campaigns as well as the option to sell shares in the crowdfunded games to potential investors.
