Fallout Shelter racks up 100 million downloads

Bethesda’s free-to-play Fallout Shelter has been downloaded more than 100 million times.

The milestone was announced during the publisher's E3 press conference. The game was first released on iOS on June 14th 2015 following a surprise announcement during E3 that year.

It has since been launched on Android, and later PC and Xbox One.

Cash vault

The game tasks players with building and managing their own vault. Players must look after the inhabitants of the vault but ensuring there is enough food, water and power to keep them alive, all while avoiding catastrophic failures such as radroach infestations.

Fallout Shelter has been a big success for Bethesda, becoming a top grossing game in the US for a while, and it continues to perform well two years on.
