Google has launched a new section to its Google Play store to highlight specific games and apps called Android Excellence.
The new section will take up residence within a revamped Editor's Choice section. It will be refreshed on a quarterly basis with the top games and apps as chosen by the Google Play Editors.
Google will choose games for the feature based on the criteria of user experience, use of Google Play's best practices and showcasing excellence in other areas such as localisation or game design.
Big names
Games currently featured in the Android Excellence section include EA's Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, Square Enix's Hitman GO and Kill Shot Bravo by Hothead Games. Flaregames' Nonstop Knight and Nerial's Reigns are also included.
The Android Excellence section is already live on the Google Play store. You can view the full collection of apps and games here.
The news follows Apple's decision to focus more on editorial curation on its App Store. The redesigned store will feature new articles every day on its games and apps, as well as featuring a new Game of the Day.
