iPhone publisher Ngmoco has announced a deal with the Independent Games Festival Mobile, which will add a new 'Best iPhone Game' category to next year's IGF Mobile awards.
The prize? A cool $10,000. It's free to enter, so the IGF people should probably prepare to be deluged in entries, given there's already more than 1,000 games on the App Store.
"Ngmoco is proud to support the independent development community and burgeoning micro-studios who are dedicated to creating device defining "only on iPhone" games", says Alan Yu, VP of artist & repertoire at the publisher.
(That's right, they have a VP of A&R...)
iPhone games will also be eligible for other categories at the awards, including game design, technical and audio, art and the overall Best Game award. The winners will be announced at next year's GDC Mobile conference.
