Appitalism exports multiplatform app store to Facebook

Users can use Facebook Credits to buy mobile apps

Appitalism exports multiplatform app store to Facebook
In its latest bid to expand its consumer base, multiplatform app store Appitalism has launched its platform on Facebook, allowing its 600 million strong users to tap directly into the marketplace.

Rather than simply providing links to Appitalism's main web portal, the store fully integrates with Facebook, enabling users to pay for apps for iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Nokia and, of course, Facebook with Facebook Credits.

Fitting Facebook

"Its a natural fit for a social app store such as Appitalism to integrate our community and content experience into a Facebook app tailored to their audience,” said CEO Simon Buckingham

“We are excited by the monetisation possibilities that Facebook Credits enables for the sale of apps and premium content items. Facebook Credits allows a large existing customer base to easily pay for apps and digital content from Appitalism using their preferred payment method."

The company is clearly hoping its portal on the social network will increase sign ups significantly, with users able to join using their Facebook account rather than having to register separately.

The move also follows an invention that allows Appitalism members to bypass the standard App Store purchase process when buying apps, the site effectively buying apps on a user's behalf and then delivering a download link via SMS.
