It's not the last word we'll hear about Apple's iPad launch, but numbers detailed by Dynamo PR suggest the roll out of the firm's latest tablet may not have lived up to the hype.
The firm claims the queue at iPad's launch at Apple's flagship Regent Street store in London was 397 people long.
That's 37 percent down on the 632 people who turned up for iPad 2's launch. Even more interestingly, that figure also represents a fall from the 451 people in the queue for day one of the original iPad.
No stock block
Adding to that is the take of Pocket Gamer hardware editor Jonathan Morris, who as well as snapping photos of the official launch at Apple's store (see below) surveyed stock in major outlets in the area.
PC World on Oxford Street in London claimed to still have plenty of stock hours after launch, while the Tottenham Court Road branch was also not running short, despite having opened at midnight.
Of those who did pick up an iPad at the Apple store launch, Dynamo claims 45 per cent were buying their first iPad. The 64GB wi-fi and 4G unit in black was the most popular, with 57 percent labelling the SKU as their target purchase.
Dynamo also claims 73 percent of those in the queue owned an iPhone, with 10 percent branding themselves Android owners. A further 3 percent owned Windows Phone devices, with the remaining 'other' category making up 14 percent.
