With Windows 8 due to roll out on 26 October, Microsoft's launch ads set to be plastered across a TV screen near you have hit the web.
Though different in content, the campaign as a whole is designed to demonstrate just one thing: usage.
Four for all
In typical post Apple form, none of the four of the spots that have leaked so far attempt to apply any brand traits to the product. Instead, they simply show Windows in use - whether on tablets, laptop or PC.
It's a logical strategy, too: with Windows 8 representing the biggest change to Window's user interface since day one, the Redmond giant is keen to showcase how it actually works.
The ad that appears to serve as the main splash, for instance, showcases everything from how the platform's live tiles work, to how Windows 8 can run two apps side by side.
Other ads focus on Windows 8 running across different forms of hardware, but with the user experience remaining largely identical.
What's in a name?
Interestingly, no reference is actually made to 'Windows 8', with the ads instead simply branding the platform 'Windows' a move that potentially sidesteps any consumer confusion regarding the differences between Windows 8 and Windows RT.
There's been no word from Microsoft as to when and where the adverts will be used. Expect to see individual OEMs particularly those launching Windows 8 and RT tablets running their own ads at launch, too.
