According to MassHighTech, investor Michael Fitzgerald of Commonwealth Capital Ventures has announced that Chelmsford-based developer of the Bluetooth mobile game controller, the Zeemote JS1, has today closed its doors.

Although Fitzgerald has yet to elaborate on the circumstances of the company ceasing operations, he did announce plans for the sale of the Zeemote assets.

Zeemote launched in 2005 to considerable industry interest, though bringing the device to market took considerable time and raised concerns over its UK launch price of £40. At the beginning of the year, Zeemote replaced its CEO - company founder Beth Marcus - with Ernie Cormier, with Marcus quitting the company altogether just a couple of months later.

Handset manufacturer support was very positive. Almost every major manufacturer enjoys compatibility, with Sony Ericsson and Nokia releasing bundles including the controller and directly supported games.
