NCsoft invests $5 million in Kabam spin-out This Game Studio

Korean F2P publisher NCsoft has invested $5 million in a mobile start-up out of Kabam.

Called This Game Studio, it's formed by some of the leads behind Kabam's hit game Marvel: Contest of Champions.

The studio behind that game - the Vancouver-based Exploding Barrel Games - was bought by Kabam in 2013 and was also involved in the development of Kabam's original Fast and Furious game.

Yet, despite the large investment, it's early days for This Game Studio, which currently consists of 10 staff and is actively hiring.

It hopes to reach a headcount of 30 by the end of 2015.
