FreeAppCalendar passes Impossible Test with first App Store #1

App passes 1.5 million downloads

FreeAppCalendar passes Impossible Test with first App Store #1
Less than a month old, app promo site FreeAppCalendar has just scored its first major success, former featured app The Impossible Test passing the 1.5 million downloads mark earlier this week.

The game, which was the site's featured free app of the day on March 30th, topped the free app charts in the US the following day.

FreeAppCalendar reports that the app "saw as many as 320,000 downloads in a single day".

Freemium for all

"The success of this app proves that giving away your apps for free can be a viable business model if done properly," said FreeAppCalendar founder Ken Carpenter.

"I have gained considerable insight into this process over the past month, and I strongly believe that we will achieve this result multiple times again in the future. It will just take the combination of a good app, the right timing and the right in-app purchase strategy for the specific app."

With its download total now 1,584,824, publisher PixelCUBE has also revealed there has been a huge increase in the game's in-app purchases.

App Store exposure

As a result, revenue generated by The Impossible Test the day after it hit the #1 spot topped the money it made when it was a paid app.

"Since being featured, we’ve held the #1 overall free app position for over a week, and have had over 1.58 million downloads in that time," said PixelCUBE's Naveen Sidhu.

"This massive exposure has led directly to a huge and sustained increase in the sales of our in-app purchases for The Impossible Test."
