It's obviously the day for mobile gaming websites to expand their horizons.
Following on from the hook up between The Portable Gamer and 148Apps comes news that PocketGamer.fr is merging with fellow French language outfit JmobiL.
The agreement sees the content and traffic of both sites combined and relaunched under the PocketGamer.fr banner and URL.
JmobiL founder and editor, Julien Roy, will take control of the new site and manage Pocket Gamer's French operations, including syndicated editorial reviews to thirdparties such as Mobiles Magazine and IG Magazine, as well as the successful PocketGamer.fr iPhone app (over 50,000 users).
The move will also see an increase in resources as PocketGamer.fr editor Nicolas Gavet and his writers link up with the JmobiL team to expand their coverage of iPhone and smartphone formats, as well as the handheld console space.
Hand in hand
"This is precisely the sort of partnership we've been looking for ever since we first set foot in the French market," stated Chris James, Steel Media MD.
"Julien is well-respected, well-connected and ideally placed to head up our French operations, helping us to grow from our strong combined base in order to emulate the success that we've enjoyed with the English-language site."
"I'm very proud to join the Pocket Gamer team in its great work of bringing high quality handheld gaming journalism to the French-speaking audience," said Julien Roy.
"With the support of Steel Media and the new team composed of both games and mobile games specialists, the brand new PocketGamer.fr holds all the keys to succeed."
