Riptide Games and Projkt Nine merge
Having previously collaborated over projects including My Pet Zombie, which is due to hit the App Store this week, US developer Riptide Games and Canadian UI outfit Projkt Nine have announced their merger.

The combined entity will operate under the name Riptide Games Corp, having its headquarters in Denver, CO, and an office in Ottawa, Ontario. It currently employs 11 people in the US and Canada.

Previously, the two had released apps such as the iLookApps series and Bop It!. It's expected the company will focus on freemium games in future.

All together now

"I am very excited about this merger," said Mike Montgomery, founder of Projkt Nine who is assuming the role of Chief Creative Officer. "With the success of the titles already released, and the current titles in the works, we have a very big year ahead of us."

"Our teams are very complementary to each other" said Brian Robbins, founder of Riptide Games, who will be president of the new company.

"Our combined forces bring together extremely talented programmers with amazing graphic and game designers, so we're perfectly positioned to create the best of tomorrow's mobile experiences."
