There's still some time to go before the end of 2011, but Apple has already called time on proceedings - at least in terms of its best apps Rewind 2011 promotional feature on the App Store.
Confusingly, however, it's not a global solution, with different teams able to pick their own best of the year.
In this way, in the US App Store, it's US developer NimbleBit's Tiny Tower that's crowned the iPhone game of the year, with Tiny Wings and BMX Touchgrind listed as runners-up.
In Europe, however, the German-developed Tiny Wings gets the top slot, with Tiny Tower and To-Fu 2 the runners-up.Of course, when it comes to the bestsellers of 2011, both sides of the Atlantic see Rovio's Angry Birds firmly in the #1 slot.
